Nintendo Wii U is a new home video game console by Nintendo, and it is the successor of Wii. With an over six inches wide screen it may resemble a tablet but the fact is that it is really a dummy display or controller. It will receive and will also send all the information from the console. It is the console that does all the processing and dual video output.

This Wii U is the sixth home console of Nintendo, and it is the first one to produce 1080p high definition graphics which has new controller with embedded touch screen. This new controller lets the player go on playing by displaying the game despite the television being off. This is a system which has fully backward compatibility with Wii and Wii U games and is also compatible with Wii peripherals like Wii Remote and Wii Balance Board as well. But they are not compatible with Nintendo Game Cube media at all.

In the year 2008, the first plan was made of making this console, but then Nintendo found many limitations and Challenges with the Wii. The main limitation was that the public perception for this was that it is such a system that is for the casual audience. In order to draw the attention of the “core” gamers back Nintendo has created the Wii U. The project was cancelled many times and was restarted due to the fact that there was much debate about it inside the company.  The concept of touch screen within the controller was taken from the blue light on the Wii which showed new messages. Miyamoto and his team had a wish to include a small screen for providing the game feedback and status message to players.  In the further development it was expanded to a full screen designed to display the entire game. The whole concept was good but not easy to afford by all.

In the first it was thought that the Wii’s replacement new console will be the increased version the name of which will be “Wii HD”. Lots of journalists were of the opinion that it would have a high definition video output combined with a Blu-ray Disc drive built in and will release sometimes in 2011. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata afterwards said that according to him there is no meaning to include HD into the Wii and this add-on will be better suitable for a later version.

In the year 2011 of April, an unauthenticated source revealed that Nintendo made a plan of inventing a successor to the Wii during the E3 2011 named as Project Café. It would have HD Resolution and is reversibly compatible with Wii software. It was gossiped that the Wii console is built with a new controller and a high resolution screen.

In this April 25, 2011 a statement is officially announced by the Nintendo to succeed the Wii. At the E3 2011 the prototype version of Wii U has been exhibited. The microphone, gyroscope, accelerometer, speakers, camera and rumble are the latest features of the 6 inches touch screen that has been demonstrated by the controller. The scheduled launch time for Nintendo Wii U is sometime around 2012.
