I've made it through nine days with the BlackBerry Torch but I can't tell if this challenge is getting easier or harder. The low app selection is still frustrating but I've found a few more apps that I like. I downloaded a custom theme and a new lock screen. The idea of themes are nice but I wish they weren't so expensive. I guess I'm just used to Android where you can easily customize your device with free apps and themes. I'm also weary of customizing an OS too much, which is one of the reasons why I switched from Android. My theory is If I don't like the way it looks, then why am I still using it? That doesn't make sense to everyone, but it's the way I feel. I'm starting to accept what BlackBerry OS is and what it isn't. It's all about function, not form. It's not pretty but it works. Form is important to me. I've said this many times, I want my phone to be beautiful. BlackBerry was just not made for that. That's not a bad thing, but it just doesn't suit me personally. I'm starting to form the opinion that those who are fans of BlackBerry have never used another OS. True, the OS is functional - email works, it's great for social networking, and it has a great notification system. But every major OS on the market has those same great features and work just as well. Based on my experience thus far, there's nothing that puts BlackBerry over the top in those areas or in any other areas. So far, I don't see what all of the fuss is about. BlackBerry Torch Challenge: Day 30 This is it, guys. It's the last day of my BlackBerry Torch Challenge. It's been fun; there have been some ups and some downs; all in all, I enjoyed the challenge. Yes, there were some times when the challenge was just that, a challenge. But it gave me a chance to learn about the OS and experience it for myself over a period of thirty days. Sometimes when we review a device, we focus so much on the specs and numbers. We don't get to experience the intangibles that can make or break an OS. During this 30-day challenge, I got to experience those things and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the OS. It's been a real learning experience and I'm glad I got the chance to do it. The question now is, Will I continue to use BlackBerry now that the challenge is over? No, I'm not going to. I feel that, based on my needs and wants, it's not the OS that's best suited for me. Therefore, I'm going to go back to Windows Phone, the OS I was using before I started this challenge. Maybe in the future I'll give BlackBerry 10 a chance or I may do another 30-day challenge with another OS. Who knows? Thanks for joining me for this ride. It's been fun.

BlackBerry Torch Challenge: Day 12 I'm on the twelfth day of my BlackBerry Torch Challenge and things are starting to look up. In my last video, I proclaimed that I was nearly ready to give up and that anyone who was a fan of BlackBerry must not have used any other OS because there's no way BlackBerry can compete with Andriod, iOS, or Windows Phone. I've since calmed down a bit and strengthened my resolve to stick with the challenge and not give up. I decided to dig into the OS more and take a serious look at what it had to offer. I deleted the custom theme I had downloaded and went back to the drawing board. I found a few new features, some new apps I didn't realize were there, and I grew to appreciate a few things about the OS that I had taken for granted. One feature I sorely missed when I made the switch was note-taking. The OS I had used most recently was Windows Phone so having Microsoft Office readily available for note-taking was extremely convenient. It was a feature I used a lot. After searching through the menus, I found a Memo Pad app that was pre-installed and a Task List app. These two apps may not seem like a big deal, but they're two missing links that I needed. So far as I could tell, BlackBerry was good with e-mail and social networking, and that was pretty much it.
